How to Care for Your Kids' Hoodie Tracksuits This Winter
A good hoodie tracksuit can last the whole winter season — and several winters after that — if you care for it properly. Kids are tough on their clothes, but a few simple habits can keep fleece soft, colours bright, and drawstrings intact all season long.
Washing: Do’s and Don’ts
- Turn inside out before washing. This protects the outer surface from friction and keeps the colour from fading.
- Use cold or warm water (not hot). Hot water can shrink fleece and break down elastic in waistbands and cuffs.
- Gentle cycle only. A vigorous spin can cause pilling on fleece fabric and distort the shape of hoodies.
- Avoid fabric softener on fleece. It coats the fibres and reduces the fleece’s ability to trap warmth over time.
- Separate darks and lights. Winter tracksuits often come in bold colours — wash them separately the first few times to prevent colour transfer.
Drying Tips
- Air dry whenever possible. Hang tracksuits on a wide hanger to keep the shape of shoulders and hoods intact.
- Avoid direct sunlight for long periods. It can fade colours, especially in bright or printed designs.
- If tumble drying, use low heat. High heat is the enemy of fleece — it can shrink, melt synthetic fibres, or cause matting.
Dealing with Pilling
Pilling (those small fabric balls that appear on the surface) is common with fleece after heavy use. A fabric shaver or lint remover can restore the surface quickly. It’s purely cosmetic and doesn’t affect warmth.
Storage Between Wears
- Fold rather than hang for long-term storage — hanging stretches out the shoulders and hood over time.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture. Pakistan winters can have humidity spikes that encourage mildew if clothes are stored damp.
- Check pockets before washing — kids are notorious for leaving snacks, crayons, or small toys inside.
When to Replace
A well-cared-for hoodie tracksuit should last 2–3 winters. If the fleece lining has permanently matted or the elastic is gone, it’s time to upgrade. Browse our current in-stock options:
A little care goes a long way — and means your investment lasts well beyond one season.
